What lies in our power to do, lies in our power not to do.
Visual and Creativity
Have you ever had a brilliant idea—a perfect concept in your mind, full of rich visual references—only to freeze when it comes time to create it? The vision is crystal clear, but the reality is you simply lack the skills to bring it to life exactly as you imagined.
It is a frustrating gap. When your taste and creativity outpace your current abilities, it can easily drain your drive to create. Learning everything by yourself takes an immense amount of time, and the sheer mountain of knowledge you need to climb can feel paralyzing. It is tempting to just shelf the idea instead of producing a compromised version of your perfect concept.
0 to 1
But here is the truth: the skill is out there for you to learn. The hardest part of the process is going from zero to one. We often trick ourselves into believing we need to reach complete mastery before we can even start building.
What if you don’t need to be a 1? What if getting to 0.7 is more than enough to accomplish your goal? You can start bringing your concepts to reality with the skills you have right now, and refine them as you grow. The beauty of reaching that elusive 1 is that once you get there, you can do almost anything. But you cannot get to 1 without building your 0.7 first.
A Matter of Time
We often use the excuse that learning takes too much time. But time passes anyway. The real challenge is not a lack of skill today, but whether you are willing to invest the time to build it so you can finish your concept in the future.
The time will pass whether you spend it learning or not. A year from now, you will either be a year older with the skills you need to build your vision, or just a year older with the exact same unfulfilled concept stuck in your head.
Are you going to just let the time pass, or are you going to start building?
